Frogs and Chameleons of South Africa [back to designs page]

Leptopelis natalensis (Forest Tree Frog)

This bright green frog occurs in riverine bush and swamps along the coast of KwaZulu-Natal. It is not uncommon to find them in homes in Kloof where they spend time in the dampness of people’s bathrooms. They are known to peek out of basin overflow outlets and gaze impishly at naked people in showers. The experience is worth tolerating because it is a truly gorgeous frog with red eyes and large pads on the ends of elegant slender toes.
