Bradypodion pumilum (Cape Dwarf Chameleon) Chameleons cannot
be mistaken for any other lizard. Their rotating eyes, slow movement,
ability to change colour and a long tongue make them identifiable to all.
At 16 cm in length Bradypodion pumilum is really quite large for a dwarf
chameleon. The remaining dozen or so species are all somewhat shorter.
The Cape Dwarf Chameleon is special because it is endemic to South Africa
and only occurs in the SW Cape. They live in coastal bush and in reed
beds where a female may have up to 4 litters of 3 to 12 babies in a year.
